Visa Waiver Program (VWP)


The Visa Waiver Program (VWP) allows most citizens or nationals (with a nonrefundable return ticket) of participating countries to travel to the United States for stays of 90 days or less if the purpose is business or tourism. A VWP entrant receives WB (business) or WT (tourist) status. All entrants under this program (including children) must present a machine readable passport (as of April 1, 2016 electronic passports that are fraud resistant and meet other security guidelines by DHS are required). Entrants must also provide documentation of financial solvency and domicile abroad.

Participating Countries

Participating countries include the following. If you have are a national of Iraq, Iran, Syria or Sudan, you may not currently travel to the United States under the VWP even if you are also a citizen of one of the following participating countries:

Participating Countries with Additional Conditions*

British citizens can only use the VWP if they the unrestricted right of permanent abode in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man.
